Starting in April of 2019, Michael and I spent 6 weeks in Mararikulam North – a coastal southwestern fishing village in Kerala, India. During this time, I took an intensive Yoga for Stress Management certification course with Dr. V.P. Rajasekharan.
I first met Dr. Rajasekharan in March of 2109 during a one week stay at Carnoustie Ayurveda & Wellness Resort. This humble, spiritually filled man leaves a lasting impression of peace on those who have visited Carnoustie for its renowned healing abilities.
Life unfolded in such a way that two weeks after my stay at Carnoustie, I was able to return to Mararikulam North to meet up with Dr. Rajasekharan again. This time I would take his Yoga for Stress Management certification course offered through his Wellness Yoga Foundation.
Every evening, after a full day of work at Carnoustie and still wearing his white yoga/meditation robes, Dr. Rajasekharan would take the short tuk-tuk drive from Carnoustie to our rustic cottage at Arakal Hertitage Homestay. Then, for 6 weeks in a simple half-room of the cottage, yoga teacher and trainee would sit, converse, debate, and practice his traditional style and traditional beliefs of yoga.
Dr. Rajasekharan is affectionally called Dr. Raj. by westerners because it is easier to pronounce!
