There are many spiritual leaders and mindfulness teachers who have written a variety of books on the benefits of living life in the present moment. Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Louise Hay to name a few…
Living life in the present moment while married, as in all aspects of life, brings so much peace and happiness. Being present means I am inwardly open to intuitively see and hear what is happening in the now.
I connect with my husband in the now.
I am not directed by past troubles or future worries.
I do not react to any moment with the lens of the past or the future.
I do not react at all.
I’m smooth.
I’m proactive with clearly focused lenses, looking into the now.
My heart is at peace, and filled with love.
Maslow
It is not easy to be mindful, to just be in any moment. Yet, there is a peaceful calm of security and love within it. Staying in this peaceful calm, at all times is also impossible – because we are humans.
As well, it can take some mileage together as a couple to eventually feel comfortable enough, safe enough to fully relax in front of each other. Fears, insecurities (more fear!), self-doubt (fear again!), etc… all the usual growing pains of a committed relationship take time to nurture away.
My husband and I are in year five of our life together. My mind just made a leap to thinking about where we are at on Maslow’s well known Hierarchy of Needs. We’ve been moving up and down on this scale as our life goes on, we face fears and strive to grow together.
It is far more challenging to live in the present moment when a couple is living in a state of fear. That said, when life is at its hardest and things feel out of control, inner-smoothness helps when stepping into chaos together.

Life of Peaceful Calm – Living in the Present Moment
Peaceful calm is the life my husband and I truly want. But life isn’t easy. Life throws upper cuts and stomach punches. Sometimes on a daily basis. Taking a moment to ground, breathe, and become in the now…and be present for one another from our hearts is such a sophisticated gift to our marriage and each other….
Can’t say I’m always there, but I try!
Yoda..I know you say, “Do or do not. There is no try.”
But hey, I’m no Jedi Master…yet!
S, ❤️
