The Rustic Fishing Cabin

Our rented fishing cabin is owned by a friend of a friend of the fishing enthusiast couple we joined for this fishing adventure!

Hecate Cove is quiet and sheltered, tucked in nicely from the open waters of the Pacific Ocean. This red-roofed cabin is truly a fishing camp – with two freezers for storing fish! Not your typical cabin appliances! It was rustic, but had the electrical essentials. WiFi wasn’t an option, and catching your cellular carrier was spotty.

The dock was a long stretch of walk, with a fish cleaning station.

The Cove

The cove is lined with seasonal cabins and full-time residents. The cove is accessible by vehicle. However, float plane and boat are the fastest way to arrive.

Some Visitors!

Wildlife was abound! The most exciting was a big, fat black bear who traveled from apple tree to apple tree, filling up on the tree’s sweet offerings!

Fishing Yet?

Yes! We did go fishing! I wanted to set the scene on where we were and where we stayed! We would spend the next two and half days fishing for halibut, cod and salmon! We also dropped a crab trap. More fishing tales to come!
