Half Marathon Training – Week 20 – The Significance of Music

18 Weeks to Half Marathon

My goal is to run the Valley Harvest Half Marathon, on Sunday, October 11th, 2020 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. 21.1km.

This Week – Total Kilometers: 50.20km

Introduced Wireless, Bluetooth Headphones

Jabra Elite 85h

Since I’ve transitioned from running on the elliptical to running outside, listening to music was my iPhone in my pocket, turned up just enough so I could hear it as I ran. Ear buds don’t stay in my ears and they hurt. I bought an iPhone armband holder for warmer weather running, again without headphones – my running playlist turned up just so I could hear it. As I ran past people, I always held my breath, waiting for someone to tell me to turn my music down. Thankfully, that never happened, some people actually cheered my music!

I decided one day, enough is enough – I need headphones! My husband is a musician, and knows his headphones. He recommended the pair I am now wearing, Jabra Elite 85h. My running has been taken up a level, as I can now truly loose myself in the beat and run with it.

My pace has improved, holding at under 8’00” minutes a kilometer!

Songs That Push Me Faster

This week, I have two new favorite running songs I found on the website:

RoadRunnersports: Top 100 Running Songs

These songs are:

“Turn Down for What?”—DJ Snake and Lil Jon

“Get Low”—Dillon Francis and DJ Snake

Moments This Week

This week included deer, messages of hope and a slug that proved he can conquer his mountain!

First 15km – Stronger With Every Step

This week I ran my very first 15km. I remember when 5km took everything I had!!! If you’ve set a running goal, keep at it! You’ll be stronger with every step!!! You can achieve your goals… just like the slug climbed his mountain!
