Just For Today – I Will Be Grateful For My Many Blessings

5 Principles of Reiki

Just for today, I will not worry

Just for today, I will not be angry

Just for today, I will do my work honestly

Just for today, I will be kind to all living things

Just for today, I will be grateful for my many blessings

Tara Brach

Tara Brach Quote - Nothing is Wrong

I’ve been listening to psychologist and Buddhist meditation teacher, Tara Brach’s Radical Self-Compassion series on Calm.

Her words truly speak to me, especially the part of those who consistently try to improve on themselves because they feel they are deficient in some way – always trying to fix themselves to be better – seeking perfection.

I identify with that. Feeling I am deficient in some way, and the more I try to improve myself – to be “perfect” according to all the spiritual laws out there, then I am “walking the walk” as well as “talking the talk.”

I also know my struggles with anxiety and alcohol addiction leave me feeling deficient – because I struggle with them; a wild woman walking a spiritual path.

The Pause

Pausing between stimulus and reaction is a commonly suggested strategy in many healing modalities. How it is presented may vary, but the premise is the same – stop, and pay attention to your now.

Pause and Embrace the Struggle

I’m into month four of living an alcohol free life and taking better care of my body with running and healthy eating habits.

I’m taking cannabidiol, also known as CBD, for anxiety and now have the space – the ability – to pause – and implement anxiety strategies I struggled using without the support of this medicinal prescription.

As a result, the Pause strategy is much more effective for me now, to embrace my struggles when they arise.

And just that it is – a pause. A pause and a breath. A noticing. A warm embrace. It’s not a struggle. It is a Yes to who I am.

A Yes to the imperfect and messy me; Joyful Stephanie!

Just for today…I am grateful for The Pause…

I hope today, you take some time for The Pause, and say Yes to your imperfect and messy life, filling your heart with radical self-compassion and joy!

How are you guys holding it up there in this critical time

      5. It doesn’t feel critical where I’m at in Canada. I’m on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The feel isn’t a panic – it is a calm adjustment to a worldwide pandemic, that feels settled into and respected with social distancing as the new norm.

Are you in the United States? Lockdown was all across that country, I think? I don’t pay much attention to the news.

        Yes I’m in Pennsylvania

      7. barrym25909 says:

Try to pay some attention to news

      8. When I feel a need to be informed about any topic happening in the world, I watch Canadian news. But that’s it. To me, there isn’t enough integrity in journalism to believe a majority of what is reported on. Too much propaganda, too much negativity…too much false news. No thanks. I’ve lived overseas and traveled. I’ve lived in and experienced other cultures. I know enough about the world to know, if I want to know more about something, watching the news isn’t always a reliable source.

        Are you in Instagram?

      11. No, I’m not on Instagram. I keep a low social media profile.

      12. barrym25909 says:

        What of WhatsApp?

      13. Are you asking me my opinion of the app, WhatsApp?

      14. barrym25909 says:

I’m asking if you are in WhatsApp

      15. No, I’m not. Why are you asking if I am on Instagram and WhatsApp?

      16. barrym25909 says:

Because I love making new friends anywhere I go
