With all the suffering in the world, especially now with COVID-19, sometimes it seems trivial to have personal dilemmas that cause stress. Especially if I’m virus free and relatively financially secure.
I think of couples who live an exceptionally wealthy life, where others might look at them and say – what do you have to be stressed about! You have everything!! You should be grateful, not complaining!
But, behind closed doors there are realities within families that cause emotional stress. Especially now with the world situation of having to work and stay at home, family members have little respite from one another, and dynamics that were once escapable and more easy to manage are now front and centre.
It doesn’t matter how much material wealth you have or if you are living pay-cheque to pay-cheque, emotional hurts and internal struggles matter. Because a person’s feelings matter.
Today I am grateful for clarity. Clarity that I know my emotions and internal struggles matter. That I can slowly come to recognize why I am feeling stressed out, even when I have food in the fridge and a roof over my head. Yes, there are a lot of people out there worse off than me, but my feelings and hurts in the moment also count for something too.
With this clarity, I can make amends for any hurts I have given to others because I was hurting and then move forward to be solution focused to help move through my emotions in a constructive way.
