Huatulco to Halifax – Upgraded to Business Class & Welcomed Home With A Nova Scotia Snowstorm!

Departure Bahías de Huatulco International Airport

My flights from Halifax to Huatulco had been upgraded to Business Class. I couldn’t believe my luck, that again, I’d been upgraded to Business Class for my flights from Huatulco to Halifax! This would make my long stretch of travel ahead much more comfortable!!!

Next stop, Mexico City!

Mexico City – Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez

I had access to the Business Class Lounge, where I would gratefully spend the next nine hours waiting to board my flight to Montreal! Here, I had access to free everything – food, drink and high speed internet!

My flight was delayed, so I was first in line in Business Class Zone 1 to get on the plane! Exhausted and feeling slightly delirious, I was done with being in the airport and ready to be home!!

Montreal to Halifax – Snowstorm in Halifax

Mid-flight from Montreal to Halifax, the plane turned back to Montreal, as the pilot announced the Halifax Stanfield International Airport was shut down from a snowstorm. GREAT! We turned around, landed in Montreal, then as we started to unbuckle the pilot announced the Halifax airport had reopened! Of course, with all the passengers checking their phone for Halifax’s airport conditions, it was discovered a plane had slid off the runway there. GREAT! But, we were flying back to Halifax anyway!

The plane landed safely in Halifax during the snowstorm. Thank you West Jet pilots! <3

My neighbor Eric, who was to pick me up at the airport, was not able to drive because he was snowed in, in Upper Vaughn. I was stuck, but lucky to get the LAST room at the airport’s ALT Hotel for the night!!

I was on Nova Scotian soil. That’s all that mattered!

And that’s a wrap of Michael and I’s trip to Huatulco, Oaxaca, Mexico!

What an ending, ‘eh!!

S, 🙂

That was wonderful to be upgraded to Business Class, I know it made the flight much better for you. 🙂
Landing in a snowstorm I can imagine must be a little tough!
Your smile says it all about being back in NS safely!
I love The Alt and have stayed there on our trips to NS when we arrived late and needed to rest before driving the next day to see family.
I have the best memories of landing at the Halifax airport as I knew I would be visiting my sister Terri in Truro very soon.
She always welcomed me with the most loving hug and a cuppa Red Rose tea.
Now when I think about landing in Halifax a profound sadness overcomes me as I know Terri is no longer there for me to visit.

Thank you Stephanie for another awesome post!
    It made me smile 🙂

  2. So lucky to be upgraded again! You’ll have to teach me your tricks. 😊

    1. LOL!!!!! I need to figure out my tricks so I can have that happen again!! I’m flying out to BC this weekend…. 😉

  3. That’s great you got in. We were stranded on the runway in Montreal for two hours due to the snow in Halifax…maybe we were on the same flight.
That was a couple of weeks ago ..
So maybe not . Huge storm in St John’s yesterday…looks like all is clear to go tomorrow.

    1. Were you in St. John’s or just flying out there?
      I hope you’re back home safe and sound… 🙂 <3

      1. Yes we were in St John’s for the weekend…we left yesterday…otherwise Sunday we have been a disaster.

After 9 hours curled up on the floor. You have that “where am I” and” where are am I going”look😳 … both at the same time. It is one of the funniest pictures of you that I have seen… But you look so very tired. Your smile said it all when you landed in NS and off to bed at the hotel. Nice to get away but coming home is awfully nice…eh!!! Glad you made it home safe. Much love mama xoxoxoxo👵🏻😍♥️

    1. Home is always so welcomed after a trip, for sure!!!! Love you mama!!!! <3 <3 <3
