Half Marathon Training – Week 5 – Goal – Long Run – 8km, Finding My Pace – Achieved!

33 Weeks to Half Marathon

My goal is to run the Valley Harvest Half Marathon, on Sunday, October 11th in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. 21.1km.

Sunday – Long Run – 8km Goal Achieved!

My long run goal was to reach 8km! I did it, even with hills!! The rocky sidewalks were, at times, muddy and soaked my feet – but this added to the push of getting my run done!! The sun was a welcomed embrace along with the warmer temperatures!

Monday – Leaving Tracks!

My sneaker’s tracks left in the February thaw mud during Sunday’s run, were now frozen in place for me to discover on my early morning Monday run! 🙂

Tuesday – Starting to Notice My Pace

It seems with good road conditions, my pace is holding at around 8 minutes a kilometers!

Wednesday – Fastest Run

Thursday – Calm Before the Storm

This morning was a run in mild temperatures – the calm – before the temperatures dropped later in the day to bring freezing rain, snow then rain! What a mess! LOL!!

Friday – Slippery Road Conditions

I was feeling tired out this run, a bit sluggish and the road conditions were slippery from Thursday’s messy mix of rain, freezing rain, then snow. I’ve recently started listening to podcasts during my run, then later change it up to high energy music to keep up my pace. This morning’s podcast by Dr. Wayne Dyer was about seeing the beauty all around us. As I ran, there was a soft and gentle snowfall that made the morning magical!!

Total Kilometers: 38.92km

Next Week’s Goal

My goal is to run 9km on my long run and incorporate yoga into my daily routine to support my running.

ps…..I really don’t like yoga so this will be a challenge!!!

S, 🏃🏼‍♀️

I love the Wayne Dyer and have read many of his books.

( I am a bit under the weather today with a slight fever, my husband is making me some chamomile tea right now as I rest in bed. I think I caught this from my grandson but hope to be better very soon. )
