Half Marathon Training – Week 3 – Goal – Each Run Holding at 6km Achieved – Goal of Speed Increase Not Achieved

35 Weeks to Half Marathon

My goal is to run the Valley Harvest Half Marathon, on Sunday, October 11th in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. 21.1km.

Sunday – Holding 6km With a Fitbit Mishap!

Sunday was a beautiful run with sunny blue skies and clear roads!! I ran 6km, but somehow I did something to stop my Fitbit at 5.75km! I was so distraught I accidentally locked myself out of my Jeep and my cabin! Thankfully, I was able to get a spare key to the cabin, then get the spare key to my Jeep! Never a dull moment!! LOL!!!

Monday – Snow & -10°Celsius

The air was fresh and very cold with a beautiful “little snow”, snowfall! The roads were clear – but soon snow started to accumulate. The gravel sidewalks had better traction.

Tuesday – Ice!

This morning’s run, when I couldn’t run on the road because of traffic, included lots of running on the far sides of the gravel sidewalks, for better traction in deeper snow.

Wednesday – Snowstorm!

This storm shut down all schools in the area! But it didn’t stop me!! It was just me and the snowplows!! LOL!!

Thursday – Uneventful And Complete!

But this run, I decided to start adding a bit more of the hill to my run – extending past my usual stopping place!

Friday – Snow & Beautiful Moon

This was a beautiful run, with snowflakes and the moon glowing down upon me! Every morning there is this moment that I call the light switch moment – when the sun approaches and removes the pitch blackness of the sky to a very subtle, and lovely shade of grey-blue. This light switch moment is happening earlier each morning, bringing a brighter morning sky as I end my run!

Saturday – Day Off

Downside To Winter Running

The added agility of running through snow and having to be very careful of ice slows me down. Not to mention I feel like a sausage roll dressed in so many layers!! But, all this running is building my strength and stamina!!

Total Kilometers: 36.44km

Next Week’s Goal

To run 7km tomorrow (Sunday) and still work on increasing my speed during my weekly 6km runs! I think I’m going to make Sunday runs my long run day, holding at 6km for the rest of the week.

S, 🏃🏼‍♀️
