Huatulco, Mexico – Day 7 – Conejos Beach – Rabbit Beach

Conejos Bay

Conejos Bay is the most easterly bay in Huatulco, but still not a far drive on the scooter from La Crucecita!

Scooter Ride to Conejos Beach

Michael and I would have had trouble finding the small dirt path that lead to Conejos Beach. Thankfully out tour guides, Patricia and Joel – P & J, knew the way! The small dirt road leading to Conejos Beach isn’t marked and an easy miss if you didn’t know what to look for.

Path to Conejos Beach

The sand along the path was scalding hot. Wearing flip flops helped, of course – but did little to protect when my feet sunk into the sand!

I was excited to see cactuses! Especially the saguaro cactus, but I didn’t see one of those. They aren’t indigenous to this part of Mexico.

Conejos Beach – Rabbit Beach

The beach is relatively untouched. A rare treasure these days with travel available to so many people. The large pits in the sand are remains of sea turtle nests. The water was quite active, meaning riptides. While beautiful, it didn’t look very safe to swim in.

Rock Formations Lining The Curve to the Next Small Beach

The rock formations at the end of the beach, before the next small beach were fascinating! Some were smooth, others jagged, others the color of coal!

Is This an Ancient Face Carved in the Rocks?

I’m not sure if this is a real carving, but it sure looks like one!! Can you see the face? The middle picture showcases it best!

Black Crabs

There were hundreds of black crabs on these rocks. Unfortunately, I had switched to my iPhone to take pictures because my Canon camera wasn’t focusing properly. Therefore, it is difficult to see the crabs as zoom on my iPhone isn’t great and these crabs camouflage nicely with the rocks!

Next stop…. La Bocana Beach – Surfer Beach!

Buenas tardes!

S, 🙂
