Huatulco, Mexico – Day 7 – Canada vs Slovakia, Patricia & Joel & Renting a Scooter

2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship

Michael and I went for breakfast at Xipol restaurant in downtown La Crucecita. Canada and Slovakia were playing hockey against each other in the 2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship.

Breakfast

Canada Scores!

The entire restaurant would erupt in cheer – the staff twirling and blowing loud party horns!

Meeting Patricia & Joel!

It is here we share a table with fellow Canadians Patricia and Joel – coincidentally this couple has the same name as Michael’s two children!! LOL!!!

Shirley

This Canadian woman is a world traveler, has lived in Mexico for years and now lives in Huatulco. She’s married to her 3rd husband, I think. She’s a real card. Animated. Outspoken. Not the best listener – but she has a story to tell! 😉

But First a Little Shopping

While Michael, Joel, Patricia and every other Canadian in Xipol watch Slovakia get their asses kicked, I did a little shopping for t-shirts at a nearby indoor market! I didn’t stay very long – the crowds were intense. I didn’t find any t-shirts. I did buy two woven bracelets!!

Adventure Begins

Patricia and Joel had been vacationing in La Crucecita for a few months and knew the area. Michael and I decide to rent a scooter and join them on an afternoon adventure of touring little known, but truly beautiful beaches of Huatulco! Renting a scooter is not that simple in La Crucecita as there does not appear to be many, if any scooter rental shops in the area.

Michael, without his license but on the word of Joel, was able to rent a scooter from a nearby street scooter vendor because Joel already had a history with him!

We drove to Sector L, to Patricia & Joel’s villa while they picked up a few items for the road!

And we were off…next stop… Conejos Bay!!

Buenas tardes!

S, 🙂
