Easy Breezy Day
The very first day of 2020 began, not with a run (the only day I missed!) but with a walk for breakfast to the restaurant, Sabor a Mi – where Michael and I were now regulars! Well, just a bit! The server, who we’d come to call Mucho Coocoo – was working the breakfast shift! Michael and I were surprised, as we saw him serving the New Year’s Eve dinner! Mind you, we could smell tequila from him! Probably helping him through his morning shift! 😉 There was evidence of the evening party all round the restaurant!
Morning Moments
Chahué Beach – Our “Polar Bear” Dip
Next stop after breakfast, the beach! Just like all the other Canadians who jumped into either the Atlantic Ocean or Pacific Ocean on New Year’s day, Michael and I jumped into the Pacific Ocean too! Thankfully, Chahué Beach is closer to the equator than the waters our fellow Canucks were jumping into this day! We don’t have any pictures of us in the water! We forgot! LOL!!!
Note – see the MANY footsteps on the sand? It is a Mexican tradition to watch the first sunrise of the year – New Year’s Day – sunrise. Chahué Beach, at sunrise this day, was PACKED with both local and domestic tourists to watch the first sunrise of 2020. Michael and I know this, as a couple we met on the beach, from Sweden, who have been vacationing in Huatulco for over 20 years, told us about this.
La Crema Bar
After the beach, Michael and I hopped a taxi to downtown La Crucecita for lunch. There was a restaurant we were looking for, La Crema Bar, renowned for its pizza! Unfortunately, it was closed. It didn’t open until 5:00pm. It was 4:00pm. We were starving!
Xipol Restaurant
Located beneath La Crema restaurant, this ground floor attraction, Xipol, catered to the Canadian snowbird population and Canadian tourists of La Crucecita. One of the many TV screens in the restaurant played Canadian television – especially sports! The World Junior Hockey Championships were well showcased! The food was delicious, the service excellent! They even had a manager on staff whose job it was to translate English to Spanish to the servers!

After a late lunch/early supper, Michael and I walked around, making our way back to our Airbnb apartment to relax and just be together.

Stephanie, I am traveling in AZ right in a motor home with my husband and having the most wonderful time. I am writing some poetry on this trip and might post some before too long. But my heart has been very sad now for over a year as my sister Terri who was my best friend died of ALS on Dec 31st,2018. Grieving her has taken a great toll on me, I am the best I can with help of a grief-therapist!
Most of the poems I write are very sad but it helps deal with the loss of my dearest sister.
Jake our best boy died in May of 2117 and we will always miss him.
We now have Hank (another Golden boy) and he is a true joy!

OMGAWD!!! My husband’s partner before me, Jackie, of 12 years, had ALS. They had 5 years healthy – 7 years with ALS – Jackie died a horrible death because of ALS. My husband would totally understand your pain. He’s written a book about their story – unpublished. One short story about their ALS journey together was published. I’m so sorry for your loss….ALS is a HORRIBLE disease.
I’ve have four dogs waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge…. Bess, Mookie, Marlow and Garbow….. <3 <3 <3
Grief takes time….I'm so happy you're having a happy time in Arizona!!! My husband would say, life isn't meant to be easy…it is here to teach us lessons…. <3 <3 <3
Amazing that we share that coincidence about ALS. ALS is a monster of a disease! My sister also died a horrible death just like Jackie did! 🙁 Thank you for your condolences, Tell Michael that I am sorry for his loss! It’s so terrible to see a loved one suffer the way they do with ALS, I just try to remember all the good days I shared with my sister and try to forget her suffering. (but it’s not easy to forget all she went through! I would be very interested to read the book Michael has written.
I have Lady, Sammy and Jake that crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge.
Hoping Hank with be with us for a long time.
He is a rescue dog that came all the way from Turkey.
