Arriving – 9:30am – It is ALREADY Packed!
Slide Heel Down – Straight
My instructor Shannon, after a very beginning intro on maneuvering on a flat surface on a snow board…. brought me to the bunny hill! My first lesson here was putting my weight on my heels and sliding straight down.
Getting Up From A Sitting Position
Not there yet – my biggest challenge at the moment….
Bunny Hill Express – The Magic Carpet
Heel Edge Zig-Zag
Not as easy as it sounds – this is all look where you are going, put your weight (slightly) on the front foot leading you there with your leading shoulder pointing that way too. Shoulder direction, I’m learning, is paramount.

Calling It A Day!
My quads ached. My legs trembled! After an hour of learning how to heel edge, I called it a day! My plan is to return with a scheduled routine of practice (I live 10 minutes past the ski hill) on my drive home from work. Once I have my heel-edge – straight and zig-zag – accomplished with confidence – I will then progress to lessons on the toe edge!!
My goal – to be able to keep up with my snowboarding husband when I visit him this Spring Break in Campbell River, British Columbia and we snowboard together on Mount Washington!!!
