Supplied with free snorkeling gear from the hotel, we headed to the South Beach to snorkel!! The water was actually cool! I was shocked! As well, visibility was poor because of the recent rains. The best snorkeling, we were told, was near and under the overwater villas. However, the current there was strong – making it very difficult to snorkel.

Our underwater pictures are taken with a GoPro 4 Black. We are still getting used to it, because it does not have a view screen!

I purchased a basic Fishes of the Maldives guide at the gift shop. If a fish is not identified here in my blog – it is because it’s not in the guide and/or I wasn’t able to find it on the internet!

Coral. There wasn’t much color to it, because of coral bleaching. We were told at the water sports centre that the coral is bleaching because of El Nino – warming the waters that results in the coral expelling the organisms inside it that give it color.

I’m not sure what this fish is? Maybe a wrasse or goby of some kind?

Maybe a type of goby fish? They are two – both white with a single black dot. Can you “spot” them!!?  🙂
