Our six weeks along the southwestern coastline of Kerala was memorable for sure.
I thought the best way to summarize our time was to list key words and thoughts:
Popeye, Olive, Yoda & Feisty
Zena and Nipples
Crows
Feeding the dogs and crows at the beach
Fishermen beach
Fishermen
Fishing boats
Early morning fish markets
Our own beach
Big waves
Fear of sharks
Dolphin swimming off beach
Scooter ride adventures
Train-crossing stops
Our Bollywood Experience/Movie, “The Notary Express”
Nice smiles
Friendly people
Happy children
Hindu Temples
Catholic Churches
Nothing yoga
Didn’t see anything yoga
Didn’t feel any yoga vibes
Ashrams are ginormous hostels
Only yoga I experienced was by taking a pre-arranged, private yoga teacher training course with a 70 plus year old yoga professor
Dr. Raj.
Election Day
Communism
Dirty kitchens
Dirty dishes
Dirty bathrooms
SPICY Indian food
Even when you ask, “Is it sweet or is it spicy?” and the answer is “sweet”, the food is still spicy!
Western food NOT an option
Instant coffee
Processed cheese omelets
Parotta
Paneer Butter Masala
Vegetable fried rice
PDDP Peoples Restaurant
Merlin & Idish
Mom’s Magic Restaurant
Lays Potatoes Chips – Sour Cream & Onion & Plain
Piles of garbage along the roads
“For Real” Birds
Red-backed sea-eagles
Log bridge
Tuk-tuks
Coconut trees
Exposed electrical connections
When Michael and I left India, during a stopover in Qatar on our way to Jordan, I spoke to a Scottish man at the Hamad Airport about India.
He once lived in India, and his words spoke very true, “India is a different experience – it all depends on if you liked the experience or not.”
I enjoyed the experiences of the Indian people, scooter ride adventures, the dogs, the animals, the trees and beaches.
I did not enjoy the experiences of not getting a break from unclean.
Therefore, I mostly enjoyed our India experience except for the constant cloud of unclean, that was a challenge for this clean freak!
Here are photos of our last random photos:
Michael’s beach feet!
Interesting tree!
Studying the clouds!
Scooters are family cars!
Michael and I’s scooter rides were always a highlight!
