A month ago, if you would have said I’d be celebrating my 50th birthday at a rustic homestay in a small coastal village of southwestern India, I wouldn’t have believed you because of the busy life I was living in Qatar!
But life, like an ocean has small waves and big waves. Michael and I had to surf a tidal wave that suddenly smashed into us. This tidal wave was his unexpected notification that his internationally sponsored contract wasn’t renewed and we had two weeks to leave Qatar.
We rode this tidal wave all the way to India and the Arakal Heritage Homestay!
My special day of turning half a century old started with sunshine. Michael and I spent the day chilling on the deck, writing…
Mid-morning, clouds rolled in with some thunder, bringing rain…..You can’t really see the rain, but what was interesting was the red glow even through darkened skies…..
That evening, Michael and I enjoyed a birthday celebration with my yoga teacher and Reiki Master, Dr. Raj.!
Next, was another birthday celebration with the homestay’s family and guests! I borrowed the homestay’s family tradition of sharing the first piece of birthday cake with everyone, including a couple from Germany!
Mini, the lovely hostess of our homestay gets the first bite!
Everyone else gets a bite, including the couple from Germany! Her name is Liz, she’s originally from Portugal, I think. Her husband, whose name I can’t remember, from Iran. They met while studying in Ireland and moved to Germany together. Great people!
