Rome, Italy – Christmas Day – Sights On Our Walk Back to the Colosseum, Our Pick Up Location

It was time to start our walk back to our pick up spot near the Colosseum.

We crossed back over the River Tiber on the Ponte Sant’Angelo bridge located in front of the Castel Sant’Angelo! The bridge has 10 angel statues along it.  The angel in the below pictures is the Angel With the Lance  – Vulnerasti cor meum – the latin inscription on the base, by sculptor Domenico Guildi.

A seagull on the bridge who would take food from people’s hands!

Following the GPS on our phones, we stepped back into the maze of streets….

A gorgeous yellow Ferrari parked at the base of Capitoline Hill!

Walking up Capitoline Hill to the Piazza del Campidoglio:

Piazza del Campidoglio – one of the most beautiful squares in Rome!

We continued on…..walking behind the square towards the Roman Forum and the Arch of Septimius Severus. In the distance is the bell tower of the Santa Francesca Romana church we visited earlier in the day!

Our next stop – the Roman Forum and the Arch of Septimius Severus. I’ve decided to give those ancient ruins their own blog!

After visiting the Roman Forum and the Arch of Septimius Severus, we made our way back to Via del Fori Imperiali road that led us back to our pick up location…
