This was a “must do”, while in Qatar.
I was so excited to see the dunes off in the distance as we drove towards them – they were bigger than I thought!

I was expecting more sand dunes. The area is an excavation site – where the sand is removed to be used to build Qatar. That made me sad, because the dunes that remained are so large, I wonder what the area would have looked like before so much sand was removed!!

We picked one of the bigger dunes and decided to climb up, as what is expected to do when you visit the singing sand dunes – and then you slide down it – and the sand “sings”.
Climbing up was no easy task! The sand was HOT and deep!

The view from the top was sad…..because so much sand is gone!

This is the dune adjacent to the one we were on:

It was really windy! Sand was blowing everywhere! Yes, there is garbage in the sand, left behind by others… 🙁

My Turn!!!

Well, there was no singing from the dunes during our slides down it! Oh well!! It was fun!!!
Looking back up at where I just slid down from!

Making our way back to the SUV!

The sand on our faces and in our hair!

And the sand in Michael’s shoes!!!

I wonder what a piece of thin cardboard would be like sliding down the singing dunes😳whoosh!!! The sand moving beside you felt funny to watch. The dunes are incredible, nature is a wonder. Love to hear voices on your videos, makes them like a little talking movie to those who are watching and listening. Love to hear Michael’s voice ( shy guy) 😘🗣
Great idea with the cardboard mama!!!!!! xoxo
Fantastic photos. I would love those dunes. ♥️
