Look Ho Ho is a must have when I’m in Halifax!! While not the healthiest food, ’tis the yummiest sweet and sour chicken balls and my favorite egg rolls!!! The flavor and texture of their meat egg rolls are so famous in Halifax, that people actually order bags of them to take back to wherever they’re returning to to freeze and have to eat! Michael thinks refried beans are the special ingredient in these famous egg rolls!
Salty’s was an evening our with family! I worked at Salty’s about 20 years ago and at that time – the seafood chowder was my favorite only after the baked brie in a puff pastry! Both foods are still on the menu! I ordered the seafood chowder, Michael had a baked pear and brie salad! The chowder was just as tasty as I remembered it to be!
We had brunch one afternoon at the Chocolate Lake Best Western. I had eggs benny with crispy bacon, with a side caesar salad! The food was very good, the service very, very slow!
I’ll save the best for last!! The best restaurant in Halifax is my mom’s kitchen!! Mom’s roast beef in gravy with her cheesy, whipped baked potatoes are nothing less that perfection!!!!
And as always….there are multiple desserts! Mom made a cheesecake that was a nice surprise cake for Michael and I’s 3rd wedding anniversary and Michael’s birthday – that are on the same day!
And Creme caramel and apple pie!!!!!
Mom’s kitchen is the best!!! Love you mama!!
