Christmas Eve Tradition

Like last Christmas Eve in Kandersteg, Switzerland, I wanted to start my day with a bit of local shopping for Christmas gifts for Michael and check out the area.

Náměstí Míru (Peace Square) Christmas Market

I walked the short distance to Náměstí Míru (Peace Square) to see the Christmas Market.  

It is Sunday, and every shop was closed as my made my way to the square.  

When I arrived, only a few booths of the Christmas Market were open.

Christmas Eve is the last day for the market, it would be shutting down for the season in an hour.

Trdelník

I tried Trdelník.  

This traditional local street food treat surprised me as it was not as good as I thought it would be, because it was a bit dry for me.  

But I am happy I tried it.

Grilovany Oštepek Chleb Brusinky

Next I tried Grilovany Oštepek Chleb Brusinky.

This is grilled cheese on bread with cranberry jam.

I also had a cup of mulled wine.  

This sandwich was different and the more I ate it, the more I liked it. 

I’d have this again, and the mulled wine too!

Church of St. Ludmila

I walked up into Church of St. Ludmila.  

A mass was happening.  

Glass doors within the entrance were closed.

Those curious to see the interior, like myself, could still see inside but not disrupt the service.

I’m hoping Michael and I can attend a Christmas mass here this evening.

Prague Socks

I was successful in a purchase for Michael….and for me too at the Christmas Market….because our feet have been cold!!
