Feeling the Pride of Qatar! Thank You Sheikh Tamim!

I won’t forget June 5th, 2016.  I was at work when suddenly news was spreading that Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt had cut ties with Qatar.  Fear was my response.  What would happen? How would life change? Food shortages  – mainly chicken and milk – was the public’s immediate fear response.  But quickly my fear and everyone else’s fears passed as life didn’t change.  Milk and chicken from Turkey filled the grocery store fridges! Thank you Turkey!

And, here we are, going into the fifth month since that day in June…..

Qatar now produces its own milk – that is very yummy!  I also really enjoy the milk from Lebanon and Iran!  Thank you!

Recently the Emir was on 60 Minutes

Sheikh Tamim interview

If you haven’t already watched it, here it is:

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani – 60 Minutes

I watched this interview with pride!  Since the blockade, the Emir started making random public appearances to connect with his people and his people responded back showing their support with his portrait!  His portrait is on cars, in malls, in souqs, store windows, t-shirts, car stickers, on towers too!  Everywhere!!!

It is an interesting time to be here as Qatar grows because of the blockade.  To be in a country that is standing strong to maintain its independence.  Maintaining with dignity. With Donald Trump at the helm in the US, perhaps Mr. Trump could learn a thing or two from Sheikh Tamim on dignity and how to respect his people.  I’m so happy to be living here now with the energy of this Emir rather than back in North America where Trump’s energy looms like a dark cloud over everything and everyone.

It’s great to live in Qatar!

Thank you Sheikh Tamim!

S, 🇶🇦
