Wat Chalong Temple
After visiting The Big Budda, we continued on to visit the Wat Chalong Temple. This, the largest of Phuket’s temples, houses a splinter of bone from Buddha. As we walked the grounds, fireworks were lit and exploded in unique furnaces. We weren’t sure of the significance of this, but it sure was loud!
Buddha’s Bone
Visiting the temple that housed Buddha’s splinter of bone, it was crowded as many visited to pray to the many statues within the first two floors and view the bone itself on the third floor. The life of Buddha painted on the walls as we climbed the three floors to view the splinter of bone at the top. A strict dress code, no shoes and a respectful behavior expected from visitors.
Enemies at the Gate
As we entered and exited the temple, a dog and a cat lay at the main entrance. Two enemies who are friends.
Perhaps because of the influence of Buddha……
